Bee Joyful

Alex and two of his buddies set off to paddle the Cape Fear River to Wilmington. They put in at about 85 miles upstream from the coast of Wilmington.  The planned and prepared. Alex spoke to several people who had done the trip, including a river guide outfitter and took a kayak river safety class. They had a big adventure. I don't have many picts from the trip because they didn't use the phone much. But there will be a few more to come.   The big trip ended with a night at a yacht marina and the owner letting them stay  in the luxury apartment in his boat storage building! The next day, Zachary's parents picked them all up at the coast. They spent the day on the beach and headed home! It was an adveture they will always remember. :) 

 Summer has begun! We really enjoy going to the pool at the YMCA. It is fun to see Alex lifeguarding too. We brought our little friend Jolene with us alot. She was with us a more than usual as her mom prepared to move. The joys of new discovery! May they never end! :) The big day of Atley's first testing and Addison testing for a higher rank of black belt. Since Adder is now black belt he gets his name embroidered on his uniform and has started teaching some of the younger student classes.  Atley loves to hang out with Dad. :) Sometimes they just sit and chat. Other times they play hockey or mow the lawn… Pool fun! And the big night of awards!

As the calendar pages of May quickly turned, we find ourselves beginning June. The theater group decided to meet at the local Rock Club. :) I love how Atley sports her sparkly skirt to climb! She is so cool. :) And doesn't even try. :) Okay, this is Bee-Joyful blog. So, some bee news. We lost our hives this winter. The bees just disappeared. This happened to many people. No one knows why. I have my ideas and there are many theories. So… if you care about the environment at all, then please use a minimal amount of pesticide and try to use all natural. Not the kind that says it on the label, but make your own. And avoid all GMO for the sake of nature and your own health. I could go on and on but I won't! Anyway, they left all the honey which was perfectly fine. I waited until a nice day and spent the day extracting honey! Big job and lots of good honey. Now I know why local costs so much! It is pretty labor intensive. :) I don't know what took us...

If you have never read the classic book, Pilgram's Progress by John Bunyan, you should go get it now and start reading it!  Although the updated abridged version may be a better read. This book has never gone out of print and it was written in the 1600's. It is one of my favorite stories and when Addison's theater company decided that was the next play, I was thrilled. Then he got the lead role! :) I am so proud of him.  He was incredible and worked very hard. All the others did too, but you know… I have my favorites! :) Soli Deo Gloria
