MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

 Last week, we went ice skating with a bunch of other families that we know. It was so fun to be out on the cold ice. I still have my ice skates that we bought one year up at Rennies in Maine while visiting Grammy and Grampy Meehan one Christmas. I still remember skating on the pond in the back.
 Not Alex's favorite sport but he was a good sport about it!
 Addison loves ice skating and whishing around with all his friends.
 Christmas Eve at our home. We started by hanging around and being cozy in the house. It was very cold outside and extremely cozy in the house.
 Addison had a Christmas full of surprises this year!
 Our annual tradition is to go to Omi and Popop's house, sing some carols and enjoy lots of yummy food. My favorite is the Russsian salade. It is made with beets, potatoes, pickled herring, walnuts and onions!
 After we eat and sing together, then we open up all the gifts under Omi and Popop's tree.

 Omi brought out her carols that are printed in German.



 Atley gave me such a special gift! She brought it over to Omi and Popop's because whe wanted me to open it first. It was a special picture of her. The love in her heart as she gave it to me overfilled me with joy.

 Then we put all the luminaries out. Most of the homes in the neighborhood put out luminaries on Christmas Eve and it is so beautiful.

 Atley loves the pottery wheel and that is what we will be doing later today! And the pj's to be cozy in!
 Addison is working on the robotic kit already! And Alex was very touched by the tennis raquet (and bag!)  from Uncle Pete. He is going to hang it on his wall. Thank you Uncle Pete and Aunt Karen!

And to sum up our Christmas...LOVE! And mostly, Thank you, Lord, for the gift of your son, who made the way for each of us. There is so much darkness in this world and we are so thankful for the light of your Son, who You sent for each one of us!

    Waah! Looking at these pictures makes me realize how much I miss you guys! Your parents look great and so does your family. Looks like you guys had a very merry Christmas. Can't wait to follow along on your blog this year!

It's already July 2017!

It is already July but I am putting in the last quarter again. Maybe this is turning into a quarterly update!  This quarter included our family trip to the Outer Banks. It was so great to see everyone. Then we drove to Atlanta. And life in-between.  Wet suits were not even a necessity on this trip! Sunny days and warmer water! I even went swimming a couple of days! This house had an amazing kitchen and we served up heapfuls of food! And our good friend Erin, came to visit us from Florida. She was here for other reasons but we still were able to get together for lunch! Former students getting married! Yup, I'm feeling a little old! The setting was so beautiful! October 2015

October began with TKD testing. Atley tested for her senior blue belt and this was a tough one. I didn't know if she would be able to test but she practiced and practiced and she tested! The forms are very complicated and there is so much to remember. I am impressed with how hard she works and how well she does. A bit nervous walking into test.. Sparring well is also a big part of testing...  She passed!!!! We are studying Flying Creatures this year so I organized a trip for her class to a 700 acre environmental education preserve and they designed a class just for our group! Hands on and very educational. And Melissa and Karl came down for a visit for a few days! Melissa brought tons of her old costume jewlery to share with Atley. And Atley is making a doughnut costume for Halloween. We saw this on YouTube and I thought. "we can do this." Addison's 14!!! His birthday was so fun! Thank you everyone for the car...

Maine 2017

We took a trek up to Maine to visit Grammie and Grampy Meehan and then we went to the cottage and saw Aunt Amy and Emily and Lila.   Eating on the pier overlooking a bay. Then eating lobsters...  Baltimore airport!  Onto the rental car...  I LOVE this farm!! Atley noticed 2 fish in this picture! Can you see them? Did I mention I LOVE this farm! I LOVE my baby too!! Near the old ice house... Captain Atley! Atley and I have big ideas for this barn but we will have to do this in the south... Nothing like Maine! Missing Alex!
